Free-range Buff Orpington (animated GIF)

As described in The Pullet Surprise, Christine and I lived on a farm in the urban shadow rural area of the Fraser Valley near Vancouver, British Columbia from 1993-2006. All of the watercolours from that book, with the exception of the "gloves" picture here, have been sold. Why does no one want a picture of my old gloves?

The handful of watercolours below are the ones that remain from a set painted in the Fall of 1999. Contact me for further information as to the whereabouts of them. Some of the images from the book Wise Acres have been printed as woodcuts/linocuts.

Rhode Island Red

7 1/4" x 10" watercolour

These watercolours were painted with a very restricted palette: primarily ultramarine, cadmium yellow and burnt sienna.

A few ewes, pregnant and recently shorn, sleeping on the front lawn by our farmhouse in early March.

Red Sheep in the Sunset
